Delete my account and my data — Barilo
Publisher: Groupe Estua inc. Last updated: November 3, 2026.
1. Where things stand today, stated plainly
In the current version of Barilo, there is no account. There is nothing to create and nothing to sign in to — and no copy of your cellar exists on our servers. Your wines, photos and notes live only in your device's local storage (the App's site is barilo.app).
So today, “account deletion” is one real thing: erasing the App's local data on your device. You do it yourself, it is immediate, and it is complete, because no copy exists anywhere else with us.
2. Delete your data now — steps
- (Optional) Save a copy first if you want to keep one: Overview tab → Export (JSON). Note: a kept export file contains your cellar — deletion will not reach it. Delete your export files too if you want everything gone.
- Erase all your local data in one step: Overview tab → “Clear everything” button → confirm. The button deletes the entirety of the App's local data: wines, futures, history, saved searches, CSV import mappings, display preferences, language and the random device identifier. The App then restarts as on a first visit.
- (Optional) Extra measures: in your browser, clear the site data for barilo.app (cookies and site data / storage); in an installed version, clear the app's data in your device settings or uninstall it.
- That is all. Your cellar no longer exists anywhere we could see or restore: we never had a copy of it.
3. What may remain — honestly
- Your export files (JSON/CSV): with you, under your control — deleting them is up to you.
- Barcodes you looked up: the code you typed was sent to Open Food Facts at the moment of your lookup; we keep no copy of it.
- Photos and identities sent online (only if you started a reading, a recognition or a visual search): they passed in memory through our relay, which neither stores nor logs them, and through the Google services described in the privacy policy. We hold no copy to delete.
- Counters, not data: the relay keeps three counters per device per month (readings, recognitions, visual searches; anti-abuse cap of 30 each), tied to the random device identifier, with no cellar, photo, text or wine identity. The identifier disappears from your device at step 2. For any request about these counters, write to info@estua.ca: we will handle your request.
- The launch-notice email (only if you left it on this site): write to info@estua.ca to have it deleted, in one step.
For any question, or to report something that should have been erased: info@estua.ca.
4. When accounts exist one day — future procedure
This section is a work commitment, not a description of the present: it will apply only if and when a future version creates accounts and synchronization. It will then be rewritten in the present tense, with its real timelines, before that version launches.
When accounts exist: deletion will be startable inside the App itself and requestable from this web page, without the App; it will cover the account and its synchronized data; data that stayed local only will keep being deleted as in section 2. No timeline and no mechanism in this section exists today, and none is promised today.
